{Tutorial} Gradient Lips!

WHOA. DID SHE JUST BLOG AGAIN?!

Hey everybody! This is a quick mini tutorial on how to do my version of the gradient lip look I had on in my previous post. Other examples of Gradient Lips are found in my take on Maleficent and Ursula looks based off of Disney Villains. The version I'm doing today is far more natural and more of a daytime-friendly, cute, everyday look. It's also very easy to accomplish with very little effort. Also, please excuse my hair. Lol. I didn't bother to style it after I showered. There are days where I just wanna wash n' go without hassle and today was one of 'em!

This ia a really great way to add a flush of color to lips without making it look overpowering and unnatural. Just a fresh, clean look. This is especially good for those who prefer the, "No Makeup" makeup look.

I love how it gives that little hint of color like you've just eaten a cherry lollipop/Popsicle. I think it's adorable. Haha.

Here we go~!

You will need a pair of lips, preferably your own..keke.
Make sure they're clean, best if exfoliated first to avoid clumpiness (is that even a word?) of product. The lip products used will apply a lot smoother.

The way I exfoliate is by gently rubbing a damp face towel in small circular motions on my lips right after I wash my face, that way my lips have become softened and are much easier to gently rub off dry skin on the surface. I try not to be too rough which may cause skin breakage/bleeding. So pleasePLEASE be gentle! Another way to exfoliate is by using an unused toothbrush with soft bristles. I personally haven't tried that method, but I've heard/read that a number of people have and it seems to work fine for them. You can also use the sugar scrub (olive oil + sugar) method to exfoliate. Which ever works for you, I just find that using the damp towel achieves the best results for me.
Next, apply a thin layer of moisture to your lips with what ever lip balm you may have. Chapstick, Burt's Bees..for example.

Now take an apricot, grapefruit, or salmon colored lip tint or a lip stain, or a very pigmented, long-lasting lipstick like NYX's Femme and dab the color across the center of your bottom lip.

Lightly smack lips together so that both have color. Notice how the color is slightly lighter at both ends as opposed to the center to make it seem more natural.

Apply a sheer nude or nude-y pink lipstick on the bottom lip slightly overlapping the rim of the coral/salmon color you've applied earlier. Don't cover the entire lip to get the gradient effect. I used Hard Candy's Painted Lady Lipstick in Fire Alarm.

Finish off by dabbing a shimmery peach-toned gloss like Ruby Kisses Supergloss in LG05 Ginger Glaze on the center of the bottom lip.

And there you have it, cute gradient lips~!

Hope you all enjoyed my first tutorial! Hopefully you've found it helpful! I plan on doing more looks in the near future! There's been LOADS of new Kpop videos that have been coming out and they all feature wonderful, WONDERFUL makeup and it makes me just want to play in my makeup kit all day to try to achieve each and every one of those looks~!! Haha. Seriously, it's exciting!
Stay tuned! Thanks for reading!
