Hey everyone! I'm super super excited for this blog today because it's another tutorial! Yay for my second one! I was a bit skeptical because I wasn't sure about what particular look I would do. I did have a few ideas in mind, but I was set on doing a Japanese Hime-Gyaru inspired look. THAT quickly changed this morning when I discovered that MBLAQ just released their new video for, "Stay". AND I WAS STOKED. Not only is the video great but the song is incredibly catchy as well. But the thing that tops the cake was the makeup. I don't know maybe it's just me, but my eyes ALWAYS look directly for makeup, and for this one, it is absolutely AMAZIN! Not only that, but it's men that are rocking it! Rocking it well I might add! Seriously, who HASN'T seen a guy in makeup? There are plenty of music videos featuring men wearing eye makeup. The Kpop industry seems to fancy it a lot for concepts lately. 2PM, Rain, U-Kiss, etc. and now MBLAQ has been sporting heavy eye makeup. Not to mention, very FIERCE eye makeup.
(Btw, photos are clickable for larger view!)
Today, I am going to show you step by step tutorial on how to achieve a look inspired by mixing cuts and pieces of the makeup each members are wearing. I also, "girlyfied" today's look. As in, I gave it a more feminine touch. Ironic, I know. This look may be a bit difficult for beginners, but with practice, you'll be able to kill it in no time!
Also I'd like to apologize for the crappy lighting from the photos. The weather wasn't cooperating and didn't give me the proper setting I needed. Hopefully the sun comes out soon! But nevertheless hope they're good enough, enjoy!
Here we go~!
Start by doing your normal face routine using: primer, foundation, and a loose powder to set and prep your face. Conceal any visible flaws you may have. Make sure to fill in sparse eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil or powder closest to the color of your current hair color. Don't make your brows too dark for this look because we want the main focus to be on the eyes itself.
Prime your eyelids all around including outer corners, inner corners, and and lower lash line. This helps the color apply much smoother and last longer. It also prevents from buildup and creasing. If you don't have a primer and are prone to oily lids, I personally just wipe away any excess oil and use an oil-absorbing translucent powder like Palladio's Natural Loose Rice Powder with an eyeshadow brush and just pat it across the lid before applying eyeshadow. Doesn't have the lasting power quite as strong as primer though obviously. But it's a good temporary replacement.
We are going to use a jet black gel liner in Blackest Black by Maybelline's Eye Studio line or whatever black gel liner you may have and evenly apply it on the lid and over the crease a bit with an eyeliner brush.
Take a black eyeshadow and pat it over the gel liner to set it using a flat-rounded e/s brush. Slightly pass over the gel liner, applying with lighter pressure to the brush and blend upwards. We are trying to create a smoky look on the top lids as shown. Next, use the gel liner on your lower lash line (avoid your waterline) using the "Fishtail" technique but fairly thicker than you would normally line them. Careful not to make them too thick! Carefully extend your inner corner as well and connect it to your top lid. It looks scary now, but trust me it'll all work out in the end. Haha.
Again using the gel liner, make extended lines about an inch farther and create feather-like strokes to make a few more lines. They don't need to be perfect. Fill in and blend those lines on to your lid. Kinda Black Swan-ish, right? Lol.
Use a silver liquid glitter liner and line slightly over the strokes of gel liner you created previously.
Apply the silver glitter liner right under the extended inner corner we created earlier and stop once you get close to the center underneath the eye. The boys in the video didn't have this added, but this is what I was talking about when I said I'd, "girlify" the look. ;) Now get creative and add a few black leopard print-like patterns and dot a bit more glitter on there.
Lightly apply a peach colored blush just on the apples of cheeks and a nude lipstick on your lips. We're not going to apply lipgloss just because the eyes already have that, 'bling' factor. And again, the main focus is on the eyes. We don't want to be too flashy!
I'd like to point out that I am not whatsoever trying to do an exact copy of any of the guys' looks, but just a recreation, an inspired look. Also I am sorry I didn't get any better photos. Again, the weather was horrible and the sun just didn't want to cooperate with me so I had no choice but to use my computer lamp. Haha. But the shadow effect made it pretty cool!
I really hoped you guys enjoyed this one! And look forward to more tutorials!
