Get Ready With Me!

You know what they say, life's too short to match socks.

Whoa whoa, shut the front door. Another post within the same week? Hold me back! I think I'm starting to get used to this steady flow of  blogging and I'm really happy that I'm actually making some progress even if it isn't much, but at least it's a start! So while I'm currently on this little blogging high, let's take advantage of it and keep the train rolling, shall we?

"Get Ready With Me"s are commonly done through Youtube, but for someone as painfully camera-awkward as I am, it's just not going to happen lol. If I were to ever film a Youtube video, all you'll get is a 5-minute mumbling mess.

6 A.M. Top o' the morning to ya! There is a strange mustached man in my bed. Don't ask me how he got there. Just kidding. It's just me. Fooled you real good though, didn't I?

And I quote the ever-so sassy heroine Hye Sung from I Hear Your Voice (which is an awesome K-drama I recommend everyone to watch!):
"99% of the women in the world look like this in the morning. You should throw away useless fantasies and accept reality." - Word.
Fresh Faced. I like to keep my morning routine simple and quick. I start by exfoliating with the St. Ives Blemish Control Scrub and I do this about 2-3 times a week. My gal-pal and expert skin guru, Hoozel, insisted I stop using it since the scrub itself isn't too finely milled to be gentle enough for my irritated skin and that it'll only worsen the redness. So she suggested using pure rice flour as a much gentler alternative. Will get back to you all on how that'll go.

I use the Cetaphil daily cleanser to wash my face. It claims to remove excess oil without drying and it's been a good cleanser to me since I started using it June/July of last year. I do see a slight sheen forming on my T-zone about an hour later, but then again I've always been more on the oilier side so it's no surprise. It does however do a much better job than all the other cleansers I've used in the past.

While it's step that I could easily skip (since I've been using it for the past couple of years and it hasn't really done much to my skin), I spray on collagen mist by Japanese brand Hadanomy for the simple fact that it feels good and refreshing on my face. Plus it smells absolutely delicious. The scent is kind of like a combination of lychee and rose water. Last but not least, I moisturize using my oil-free Neutrogena face lotion. Do not forget to moisturize, I cannot stress that enough. Your skin will thank you.

Paints. These are the products I pretty much use on a daily basis and I try to be as much of a minimalist as possible when it comes to piling stuff on my face. From left to right: Maybelline FIT foundation in shade 125, Rimmel's Stay Matte pressed powder in Silky Beige (I love this stuff), Too Faced Chocolate Soleil matte bronzer (it smells just like hot cocoa, I kid you not), NYX blush in Cinnamon, and NYX blush in Raisin for contouring. Depending on my mood, I also use Tarte blush in Natural Beauty which is more of a pink color.

It's all in the arch. I fill my eyebrows in with NYX eyebrow powder in Dark Brown and I like to further define the shape and the tail with Make Up For Ever's Aqua Brow in 25 Ash using a thin angled brush that I picked up from Target. My poor NYX eyebrow powder has gone through hell and back. But I still love it and it's flaws. Beaten, bruised, taped and all.

Smokey Girl. From left to right: Stila's In The Light eyeshadow palette, Sonia Kashuk blending brush, L'Oreal The Super Slim liquid liner pen, my favorite Maybelline Falsies waterproof Mascara, and the ever popular Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I apologize for my messy palette. You can tell how much I use that thing.

Pucker up. NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee, Revlon Toast of New York lipstick, and my trusty Burt's Bees lip balm. After I apply moisture, I dab on Toast of New York on the inner parts of my lips first, then apply the butter gloss right after for a natural pouty look.

Snug as a bug in a rug. My usual casual wear. A button-less and floppy long cardigan by Verve, an LA fingers tee from F21, and distressed jeans by Jessica Simpson (who knew she made jeans!). Comfort is everything to me. If I could wear sweats all the time, I would. But I do like looking cute, so..

Metal head. I wear tons of accessories most of the time and I feel strangely incomplete if I didn't throw on a necklace and at least a ring or two. A lot of my accessories aren't real, which means it's a hassle going to the bathroom and having to take them all off when I'm washing my hands to avoid them getting tarnished. Necklaces and rings are from F21 and H&M, ear cuff from H&M, watch is a gift from my grampa, and my favorite Marc Jacobs body spray in Biscotti (my beloved signature scent, which I'm totally sad that it's almost gone). Limited edition items are the worst. :(

Bag of bones. Small shoulder/cross bag that I carry all the time. It's a perfect size for all my essentials; my wallet, phone, keys, makeup for touching up. Snagged this dandy lil' thing from Ross (booyow). Oh skulls, you're my favorite pattern.

Made for walkin'. In the end. it's always these three that I have trouble choosing from. Left to right: SONOMA Life booties from Kohl's, Sam & Libby buckled booties, classic all-black Converse Chuck Taylor hi-tops.

Ba-Baam. Annnnd here's my final look. Featuring cheese everywhere! Backtrack a bit, from Stila's In The Light Palette I used Bliss as an all-over base color for my eyes, Sunset to enhance my crease, Sandstone to further define it and Ebony to add depth. I then used Bare to highlight my brow bone and a dab of Bubbly on the inner corners of my eyes.

I'm aware I take too many photos like this. I feel like my hand is sewed on to the side of my head sometimes.

It's a silly photo, but my eyebrows be on point doe! Btw, an eyebrow tutorial will be out real soon. I've decided to do one since I always get a number of people asking me how I shape and fill them in, so keep a lookout for that!

Welp, that does it for this post, folks. Hope you enjoyed 'getting ready' with me! Oh and I almost forgot~ Am I the only one who carefully chooses background music to get ready to? Lately, mine has been One Way's "Would You Be"! It's also really cute that the MV begins by showing how the protagonist starts his day as well!

Check it out!

How about you guys? What's your choice song to get ready to?

P.S. Little brother approves of this post!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Peace + cheers to more blogging,
