UPDATE!!~!* About a week after the contest, Kerli herself chose a runner-up and posted a few of her favorites! Fortunately, I was chosen to be one of the lucky ones to be posted on her official blog!!! I am so unbelievably thankful and honored!♥ CHECK OUT MY FACE AND OTHER EPICNESS HERE!
Hey guys! For those who don't know, Sugarpill Cosmetics and KERLI is currently holding a contest to promote Kerli's music video for, "Army of Love". Kerli is an Estonian recording artist, and for those who aren't familiar with her music, one of her biggest hits is, "Walking On Air". Ring a bell? To be honest, besides that song, I didn't hear any of her other stuff up until yesterday. I Youtubed her and watched, "Tea Party" and "Love Is Dead". I was in love. I swear, why haven't I listened to her sooner? Her overall style is totally what I'm all about. The whole mystical, magical, glittery, dark, pastel pool of vomit (ENTIRELY IN A GOOD WAY)..is just amazing. You all really just need to check her out for yourselves. She's way cool.
I couldn't contain my excitement when I found out about the contest. Come. On. $200 smackeroons worth of Sugarpill Cosmetics?! Hale yeah, I was down! Been a huge fan of Shrinkle since forever and when she came out with her own makeup line, I've been obsessed! Unfortch, I don't own any (WHICH I WILL as soon as my budget allows me. D:). So I jumped ship and joined~ What the hey, I might as well go for it and takes my chances. What do I have to lose? :3
But of course it isn't all about the prize. I love the whole concept and this is just another look that I probably wouldn't have come up with myself. It'll be a really nice addition to my portfolio.
So after watching, "Army Of Love" for the first time, right then and there this whole visual just clicked in my mind and I immediately KNEW what to do. My creative juices were flowing like crazy. I wanted to do a concept where as if I was one of the soldiers in the video. All white and crazy-amazingly mystifying. Choice huge words. :D
I worked really hard and did my best to try to be as creative and imaginative as possible without going overboard. I dug around the house and searched high and low for everything I had that came in white. I managed to grab a hoodie, a garter strap, a scarf, some cotton (long story, I used to make little food pins/phone charms made out of felt and stuffed with cotton..I am weird.), my old lace Lolita parasol, and some pearl stickums made for scrapbooking. Put 'em all together in my boiling pot and boompow, this is what I came up with.
A little part of it just screams cosplay to me. I don't know. Haha. Enjoy!
A close-up of the, "War Paint"! Don't mind my hair of a mess..
Vote and check out all the other entries HERE.
Voting begins on February 9th and winners will be chosen on the 14th.
Wish me luck!

P.S. UPDATE. My blog post was retweeted on Twitter by Shrinkle AND Kerli! They have officially made my week and helped me to get over 300 views today! Not too many grand things happen to me very often such as getting my work some recognition, espesh by big names such as them, so this is huge to me! Haha. Extremely grateful that they liked my work. This is just another step to where I want to get, even if it's a little one..but it's definitely progress!3>
