*Haha. Cute right! Photo credit to sweetperversion's Etsy shop! I ran across this whilst looking for Valentine cards online. Check out the shop, I really love the humorous concept of this stationary! Definitely not your everyday average greeting cards. They're incredibly charming!
Hey guys! Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so I came up with day and night date-appropriate looks to wear especially for the occasion! This post is part 1 of 2 of my Vday tutorial series. The second tutorial I'll post up sometime this week. I meant to post this yesterday, but I was struck with Writer's Block. Poo.
Part 1 is a daytime look, really suitable for outdoor dates, picnics, you get the gist. I used purple and lilac tones vibrant enough to make a statement, but still subtle enough to be wearable, even for everyday! You'll love this especially if you're into wearing minimal makeup. We're not going to be caking on the foundation, lovelies! There's a huge difference between concealing our flaws and completely disguising what we really look like. So be careful when applying your foundation and concealer and try not to be cake-happy! A thin layer will do. Also, make sure everything's evened out and blended in together, espesh the area around your jawline, hairline, and ears.
No falsies for this look, I'm sorry to say! As a lover of false eyelashes, it's definitely hard to transition to make due without them, but I wanted this look to be as natural and light as possible.
Today's look requires a thin layer of primer and foundation, a touch of peach-color blush (yes, I love peach blush!), and a lilac-pinky lipstick with a satin finish. I used NYC's lipstick in Lilac Dream.
Face Prep:
- Wash and moisturize. Exfoliate if needed. Important!
- Prime the face. Focus on enlarged pores and imperfections.
- Minimal/thin layer of foundation; a pea-size/Lima bean size amount will do. Use fingertips for controlled application.
- Conceal any visible flaws; focus on dark circles. Us your ring finger for light pressure when applying. Don't tug your skin! Espesh around the eye area. :)
- Lightly apply a matte face powder to set foundation in it's place using a fluffy brush.
- Take an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow powder (any eyeshadow close to you natural hair color will do as well) and lightly fill-in sparse area with an angled shadow brush.
For those who are curious about the products I used for my face:
- Rimmel Fix and Perfect primer in 001
- Bare Escentuals concealer
- Rimmel Matte Foundation in Ivory
- Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in Sandstorm
- NYX Eyebrow Powder
For eyeshadows, I used the colors marked above from Coastal Scent's 88 Palette. If you don't have this particular palette, you can use any eyeshadows similar to the colors above. :)
Here we go!~
Prime eyes with any primer you may have. Cover the entire eye area including inner corners, lower lash line and brow bone.
Now take a shimmery, white pearlescent eyeshadow like NYX's loose Pigment in Pearl and apply that over the lid, slightly passing up your crease and inner corners.
Apply the lightest shimmery purple (shown marked on the 88 palette) and blend with your brush sweeping back and fourth across your lids, just above your crease. Take the light bronze-y color and apply that right under your brow bone and blend it with the light purple.
Now take the darker purple and apply that on the end of your crease located near your outer corner and blend inwards, just stopping a bit halfway. Make sure to blend lightly once you get towards the center, as we want it to look faded as it gets lighter.
Use any black liner you prefer and line your lids like you would normally line them and very gently wing-out the ends. Take a black liner pencil and line your upper waterline. This could be a bit tricky, so if you're not used to lining waterlines, or if your prone to watery eyes, skip that step.
Use the darker purple earlier and apply that right underneath your lower lash line, stopping once you get close to the inner corner. Then apply black pencil liner on your lower lash line, from the outer corner, stopping halfway. This creates the illusion of a bigger eye.
Curl your lashes by pumping the eyelash curler 3-5 times until you've reach your desired curl. It also helps if you hold the curler close in between each pump for a few seconds.
Apply a few coats of waterproof mascara like Maybelline's Falsies Mascara in Blackest Black. Try not to make it clumpy. Not attractive!
And you're done!
(I forgot to add that you should also apply the white pearlescent eyeshadow on your brow bone just beneath your eye brows. I ran out of room in that section!)
Apply NYC's Lilac Dream lipstick, or any pink lipstick with a lilac undertone and a peach or a light baby pink blush on the apples of your cheeks, sweeping up towards your temples. You can also highlight your cheekbones using a dab of the pearlescent white eyeshadow.
And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed this Daytime Valentine's Day Date look! I really appreciate you for reading! Up next is Part 2, a date night look with a simple and easy smokey eye, paired with the famous red lip! Stay tuned folks!
I leave you with one of my favorite love songs by Jung Yong Hwa of C.N.Blue called, "Banmal Song". YES, it's in Korean, but the melody itself is lovely. It's basically about a couple in their early stages of their relationship and how they're still very shy towards one another. They both want to speak comfortably; they want to use "Banmal" if you will. Banmal means informal speech in Korean. What's sweeter is that Yong Hwa wrote this song especially for his, "wife" Seohyun of SNSD/Girls' Generation. For those who don't know, they're both currently starring in the 'reality show' We Got Married or better known as WGM with another couple, Nichkhun from 2PM and Victoria from f(x). In short, it's about two Korean stars who are paired up and live the married life. I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH! And I will stop now bc I can go ON for days talking about it! Haha. Have a listen! Enjoy! xoxoxo
Get chocolate-wasted for me!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much! That's very sweet of you! I try to be as clear and thorough when making tutorials. I think it's much easier for readers, especially with step by step pictures rather than just one photo of a complete look and words to back it up. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again!<3
